Our Inspiration

Carrying Forward a Living Legacy The Emmanuel Teryila Memorial Liberty Foundation was established in memory of a life defined not by its length, but by its depth of compassion and purpose. Emmanuel Teryila was on the path to becoming a priest, devoted to a calling rooted in faith, service, and love for humanity. Even before completing his priestly training, he distinguished himself by a rare and selfless commitment to charity—especially towards children and the most vulnerable. His life reflected a quiet but powerful conviction: that true service lies in lifting others and standing up for those who cannot stand for themselves. His passing left a deep void, but it also awakened a resolve—to ensure that the values he lived for would not be lost. The Foundation was born from this resolve: to transform personal loss into a force for social good, and to keep alive a vision anchored in compassion, justice, and human dignity. Inspired by Emmanuel’s Teryila's example, the Foundation works to protect and empower children, promote their rights, and engage communities as active partners in safeguarding their future. We recognize that lasting change requires the involvement of all—families, institutions, and traditional rulers whose leadership and influence are vital in shaping norms and defending the vulnerable. Our work is guided by a firm belief that silence in the face of injustice is not an option. When the lives and rights of children are at stake, there can be no silent witness. Through every initiative, every voice raised, and every life impacted, we continue to carry forward Emmanuel Teryila 's legacy—a legacy of love in action, of courage in advocacy, and of hope for a better, more just society for every child.
